What's mine...

Finally been through the Passing Out Parade (POP) on wed (dated: 23rdthAug06'), n' had to do bunk cleaning through thurday before we had a long weekend after we bookout on thurs at 5.30pm.. I really cnnt believe when my Platoon Commander (PC) came up to n' asked me to changed up my best uniform n' boots because i'm selected as the Best Company Trainee, n' i need to go for an interview with the other two best trainee from Bravo n' Charlie company n' compete? for the Best Battalion Trainee...

Ok, n' i got it..

During the POP, i went up to recieve trophy for each of the above mentioned. But what i recieved was also stress as compliments n' people talking behind my back was inevitable for this award which was really honourable to claim it among 300++ other recruits.. But i always believe what's mine will be mine as whatever will be, will be.

Friday, Dated 25thAug06'
After weeks of swim training for this 6th SCDF swim-meet, i finally made it n' came in first for my individual 50M breaststroke, n' 2nd for 4X50M Breaststroke Relay. It was really an unforgetable experience as i got to teamup with my Physical Training Instructor (PTI), Senior Encik, n' also my OC (Officer I/C) for my A'Coy. Of course i was n' had to cheer at the top of my voice n' till the extend i forgotten about my sorethoart n' got a really bad voice after all the cheering... o.O

In the end, i won?
First Prize for 50Mbreast stroke men's open - $45 NTUC voucher.
2nd Prize for 4X50Mbreast stroke Relay - $60 NTUC voucher.

Lol.. i got $60 altogether but i gave it to my daddy to buy the necessities.. Not bad at all because i got a free TYR dri-fit round neck T-shirt, n' make some great friends n' it's an achievement for me after all the hard-work invested.

After the competition, i went to meetup with my buddies at the Hua Yu Wee Seafood Restaurant near bayshore rd at 462 upp east coast rd.. Had drunken prawns, roasted chicken, chilli crab, steam crab, fried buns n' they serve really nice chrysanthemum tea! n' ea. of us paid $22 which i really think was worth the $.

Anyway, on our way home after sending Angel home.. We saw sth unusual at the bus stop at Bedok South ave 3, in front of blk 49. There was 2chinese guy n' a woman in the middle n' one of the man was mumbling something:"Be good, be good.." in chinese n' stroking the woman hair.. She looks semi-conscious as if she was hypnotise.. So my buddy asked me to phone 999 to report to the police..

So my "first time" was given away to the case mentioned above.
Dialing 999...
Operator: Good evening, 999 police station, how may i help you?
Me: I'm calling to report on two suspicious chinese guy at the bus stop at Bedok South ave 3, in front of blk 49. They are with a lady n' she looked as though she was hypnotised, can you send police over to check?
Operator: What's your name, n' contact number please.
Me: Tan Jun Jiang, 9*******
Operator: Ok, we'll send someone over to investigate.
Me: Thanks!

*toot.. toot..

Well, i'm not sure what happened after that because i went home n' didn't receive any call from the police.. but i guess everything happens for a reason n' leads to another.. Which explains why i called the police for the first time after much persuasion from my buddy because normally i wouldn't get myself involved in such trivial stuff which is not within my control as i'm not sure of how i'll be of help when "such cases" arises..

I guess i can only pray...
N' monday when i return to camp i must also wish for the best as an instructor trainee. Although many of my other friends does not know their vocation, my platoon buddy Gary already recieved call from the camp that he'll be posted to be a dog-handler. Through my recruit days, i really owe him a big thanks as he was always there for me when i need him (vice versa =P), n' his dad whom rain or shine drives us to the camp in the early hours before daybreaks.. Really admire n' respect his daddy for the achievement he made since young. (Diver - master, Swimming Coach, Aikido - 4th Dan, etc.) I'm looking forward when i turn 40, where will i be.

Anw, Check my email n' recieve an email from Linza! n' Teddy~!
They were friends i met in school n' they wanna meetup for a gathering next weekend because XiuWen's going over to Hainan on 11thSep06' for attachment!! Cool~(^ ^,) Keeping in touCh with them really brought back alotsa good old memories back in school.. Guess i'll also see Pei' because they are the Trio's!

Okok, although i went into camp n' haven't seen some of my friends for sometime.. But i found out that i'm really good with names as i'm still able to call out to them when i see some of my friends on this tiny island of mine, S'pore. Well, i guess S'pore mould me into someone who values the kinship n' friendship. Cheers to Racial Harmony, n' to the growing economy! =P

Looking forward to all upcoming event as what's mine will be mine.

Few days to come..

Today, Monday (Dated: 21stAug06') is a "Day-off" because our SCDF went over to sentosa on Sat/Sun (Dated:19th-20thAug06') to helpout for the "Real-Run" event.. Reached Sentosa on Sat about 10pm+ n' had our snacks before we started setting up some logistic items need for the event on Sun morning at 7.30am (*1.5L Mineral Water, tables, chairs, banner etc).

I was put in-charge to handle the mineral water along with 9manpower to cater to near 8k participants.. but based on experience there was only about 3k+ enthusiatic runners who came for the event, but of course if ea. runner took 2cups or more, we'll be pouring the mineral water into more than 8k cups.

Really had fun doing things together with my platoon mates as we're definately more bonded than before ever since the various events that took place through last week.

1) Final Ex (Mon, 14thAug06')
There was 3 platoon, n' we were given a special task before the Final Ex which we're required to transport the Rescue-Trailer (Unladen Weight: 3000kg, Laden Weight with all the rescue equipment weights up to 6000kg) across a "Simulated-bomb" (*it's actually a wooden plank.. -.-).

I was selected as the Asst-I/C n' the first thing that came into our mind is to build a wooden bridge n' cross the bomb (*which the other two platoons did).. Using the surrounding materials (rocks, wooden planks etc) we managed to build a bridge n' crossover the "bomb" successfully although it took us quite some time to build it, n' 1/2-way through the bridge crack under the pressure of the rescue-trailer n' the weight of our manpower...

we were rejoicing as though we struck lottery~ The OC (Officer I/C) was also really happy with our performance as the other two platoons didn't make it as their bridge collapsed.. =/

Then came the Final Ex in which we were required to save 14 casualties in a 4-storey buildings with rubbles everywhere.. Fires were set-up to simulate a more realistic senario.

Three teams were split up,
1) Height Rescue
-To save the victims from lvl2-lvl1 using 2way-suspension with basket stretcher

2) Rescuers
- To perform rescue search through different levels for casualties n' put out fire

3) FAP (First Aid Point)
- To perform rescue search through lvl1 n' secure a FAP to allocate casualties in a save environment away from the dangers.

Because we finished our operation much faster than the other two platoons, our PC (Platoon Commander) gave us another "Special Operation" in which many many "real-casualties" (Because i lost count of how many i saved..) were place on lvl 3 n' we're required to transport them to lvl1 FAP using the wheeler stretcher..

But in times of physical n' mental challenge, we were really put to our limits as one of our rescuer accidentally dropped the stretcher because he really cnnt take it n' injured our platoon mate (Alvin Koh)... Another of our guy (Fahis) had asthmas attack n' another (Luke Tan) injured his thigh because of this carelessness n' all of them were sent to the hospital for futher check-up.. Lost for words as none of us expected things to turn this way, but in times of the real crisis anything can happen.

2) OC's Performance Night (Wed, 16thAug06')
I was actually the secretary of this event but somehow or rather i gradually became the I/C because everyone starts to lookup to me instead n' i had to organise the people to compromise with this n' that which was all last minute.. Although there was quite a num. of disagreement because inevitably because some people think too much w/o any constructive feedbacks (This cnnt, that cnnt..) but in the end i'm quite happy with the performance as we came in FIRST??! which was really unexpected as most of us thought the other group did quite a nice performance as well..

In any case, this O/C night was really a load off my mind as before the performance we only had about 10mins of rehearsal.. but everything turns out well n' luckily i did not let down my PC (Platoon Commander), Sergeant, n' Corporal's whom repeatedly asked me of our preparation for this event as they were unsure of our performance n' did not want us to make a fool of ourselves..

3) Footdrill Competition (Fri, 18thAug06')
Our platoon came in FIRST!! for this footdrill competition! (^ ^,)
After days of rehearsal n' hardwork, finally shown results n' prove everything to be worthwhile~ We got the trophy, n' our company name "ALPHA" will be the first ever to be engrave on the new footdrill trophy which will be passed around for the subsequent footdrill competition for the other intakes.

I'm really lost for words in this point of time as many good things has happened to me n' i'm still counting on my blessing as i'll be taking the recruits of 101th BRTC (Basic Rescue Training Centre) intake n' hopefully things will turn out well.

As it was one of our platoon mates (Zul) birthday, (*Me along with Jason Tang, Gary, Firdaus n' Furhan) went to jurong point on sat to get a T-shirt n' cake before we book-in, n' went to camp to celebrate for him with the rest of our platoon mates. He won the best physique on the very day of his b'day on fri which is definately on of the best b'day present for him. =P

To recap of all the events, it actually all happened in ONE WHOLE WEEK?! n' due to the "Winning-Streaks" of our ALPHA - Platoon One - VIPERS! most of the people are treating better, or perhaps we just got more bonded as ALPHA. But i gotta agree that life will definately change once we POP as a recruit n' posted out to our various vocation in time to come.

Our O/C actually gave those people in ALPHA company involved in the footdrill a 1/2day off on tues because we won the competition, but i chose to book-in today (mon) at 8.30pm as i don't wanna wakeup early morning n' rush down to camp by 7.15am.. n' think my buddy (Gary) dad's driving us down to camp n' will be more convenient for me as i'll be bringing along a pail of white to fill up the cracks n' cover up the stains on the wall in our bunk.. =P

Hey hey! n' I'll be representing BRTC along with some other guys to take part in the SCDF Swim-meet on this coming fri (Dated: 25thAug06') n' i'll only be swimming for the 50M Breaststroke as we're only allowed to take part in one event/participant although my timing for freestyle is faster than the others.

But i'm hoping that we'll claim the overall champ as i'm determined to give my best shot n' cheers for my team! (^ ^,)

Till then, tata! =P

Two weeks time.

Comp still down.. Hopefully can get it fixed asap so i don't need to take the trouble of going out just to surf the net.. Everything just happen so fast.. in two weeks time, i'll go through..

1) SCDF - Final Exercise (14Aug06')
2) OC's Performance Night ( 16thAug06')
3) Footdrill Competition (18thAug06')
4) Pass-Out Parade (POP on 24thAug06')*
5) SCDF Swim-Meet (25thAug06')

But i pretty much concerned about my POP because most likely i'll be going back all the way to the camp (*again) and undergo the instructor course.. then i'll have to take don't know how many intake of recruits before i'll ORD.. =/

There's always the Pro's & Con's.. But i certainly look forward to being an instructor although i asked for recommendation to be as a Medic because of the qualifications i have (Dip, Lifesaving certs etc..) Let's leave everything to fate n' enjoy life to the fullest!

[Everyday is worth a celebration, because of you]
